Yes, everything is terrible. REST is your ultimate power move.
This is the time to cultivate your energy & creativity
I need you to hear this: You do not have to grind your way to greatness.
If you’re feeling defeated by the chaos of the headlines. If you don’t know how to take action, or what action even matters. If you are tired and sad and also feel guilty that you aren’t doing more and also don’t know what it even means to do more (is that just me?), and you’re wondering how you personally can help shore up a better version of the future…it’s time to stop and do less.
In fact, it’s likely that the secret to unlocking your best ideas—the ones that we all NEED from you right now, that will change careers, lives, the fate of our collective future—is NOT pushing harder. It’s rest.

Yeah, I know. We’ve been trained to believe that success comes from doing more. From waking up earlier, working later, optimizing every second of our day. That’s what capitalism supports. But we also know this: Your brain needs space to think, to create, to dream.
And I’m not talking about wellness. Or yoga. Or a rigorously disciplined mindfulness practice. Those things are great, sure, and they may lead to rest…or they may become yet another item on a list of to-do’s that never gets fully checked off.
This week on Hello Monday, I get into this with Octavia Raheem. Her new book is Rest Is Sacred. Octavia’s on a mission to change the way we think about productivity. And what she shares is a total game-changer.
At the end of this episode, Octavia leads a simple, powerful rest exercise that will shift your energy in minutes. So if you’re listening while driving or multitasking, leave yourself ten minutes at the end. When we get to that part, pull over, close the laptop, put down the phone, and actually DO it.
Because if you’re tired, burned out, or feeling stuck… this could be the reset you didn’t even know you needed.
In other news…
Almost half of the fastest growing fastest growing jobs didn’t exist 25 years ago…I talked about LinkedIn’s annual Jobs on the Rise report this week on CBS Mornings.
I Can’t Stop Thinking About This…
The Telepathy Tapes. Filmmaker Ky Dickens takes on the radical idea that some nonverbal autistic people might communicate telepathically. Through raw interviews with parents and advocates, the show challenges everything we think we know about language and connection. But it’s messy. Skeptics call it pseudoscience. Others say it’s changing the way we see people. It’s a story about the power of belief and the limits of what we understand. And it’s a reminder that sometimes, truth doesn’t look like we expect it to.
If you’ve noticed that Hello Monday has leveled up its sound engineering in recent years, credit goes to Assaf Gidron. He even sometimes composes work for the show. But his best creativity is put to work in service of producing the music of his wife, Teodora Stepančić. They’ve just released an album, and it contains two experimental and mesmerizing 20-minute original pieces. Listen to an extract here, and find the full album and an interview here.
I like to rest ☺️
